According to our records, it sure has been. As of September 15th, 2008, FraggedNation.com will turn a shocking 5 years old!
In that short time, FraggedNation has catapulted itself to a incredible average of 10,500 page-reads per day, 170+ new accounts per month, and an amazing 230,000+ page reads per month, totalling over 14 million page impressions since inception back in 2003!
We, as a community, have accomplished all of this with no corporate backing, limited sponsorships, and only donations from the community to get us through. We have officially become one of the largest independent owned and operated leagues in the world....

Datacenter Explosion!

Posted By: Switch°So as many of you I'm sure noticed, FN was down as of about 12:00am on Sunday morning until about 6:00am this morning. As it turns out, there was an electrical failure in a power transformer in the DataCenter that caused an explosion that took out three walls of network equipment.
Luckily nobody was hurt, and no servers were damaged. We were lucky to be one of the servers that came back online this morning, as there are still several thousand that are not yet online due to more extensive damage.
On another interesting note, we also had about 2 hours of downtime on Saturday morning when the power supply in this box died. Very odd to have those two things happen in the same weekend!...

First off i would like to take the time to thank and congratulate staff and participants both for another successful year of gaming at the nation as well as finally reaching 10,000+ members strong. Now its time to move forward and see how fast we can reach 20,000. We did 10,000 in five years i strongly believe with a little extra work in promoting we can hit the other ten in far less time.
On a different note the main reason for this announcement is to inform all that i will be stepping aside and taking a leave of absence. This decision is due to some unanticipated events that have occurred in RL. This is and will continue to limit my time to the point i fear it will have an impact on my decision making abilities. With all that in mind i made this decision to be fair not only to myself but everyone else here at Fraggednation....

After some recent staff adjustments we find ourselves in need of another trustworthy admin-gamer to put in the position, and Thumper was the very first Admin member to come to mind.
Not many of you know it, but about a year ago FraggedNation was brutally hacked, and this non-profit, tight-knit community was brought to it's knees - not unlike many other gaming sites and community forums at the time. Myself being the only developer for FN, I talked with several high-ranking admins and decided to just let it rest and be done with it. There was one single person who made me change my mind, and that was Thumper. For all those dedicated gamers out there who enjoy this site, you have Thumper to thank for it's continued existence. ...

So I've had a talk with chic and she agrees that it is time for her to step down as a Game Admin for UT99. 1.) Get in a server running PB. Do not join a team, you can do this through spectator.
2.) PRESS AND HOLD SHIFT and then press ~ (this will bring the Prompt up)
3.) Type in /pb_plist
4.) Press Page Down, to scroll down to see the GUID of your name.
5.) Write down the code you get on a piece of paper.
6.) Go back to the FraggedNation website and click on "My Account"...

I went through the server list for all the ladders and checked them. If I could not look it up on All Seeing Eye or Xfire or could not connect to it, I deleted it.
Game Admins for the ladders, please check and verify the servers for your ladders have the correct information.

1v1 ladder rules will be updated soon. Start posting in the 1v1 forum what maps you want in/out of the 1v1 ladder. Also, 1v1 ladder will be restricted to 4 rung spots. There have been a lot of same-day-challenges going on. Basically, someone challenges someone, they find them on a server, play out the 1v1 match the same day, report it, and then challenge again. We need to keep it fair to those other peeps who don't spend every waking hour online.

As a HA you get to keep an eye on the forum, answer questions, advertise the ladder and interact with the players on the ladder. I don't actually play COD4 so excuse any ignorance you might see out of me please. I'd like to see a couple of people step forward to fill a Head Admin position so we can get a ladder rolling. It sounds like we have a couple of server options so we should be ablet to get it going pretty quick if you guys are willing to help out.

Please take a minute to cast a vote as to who you feel should be another 2v2 admin. Currently there is Helli, Venoz, and Megaborg. Basically all we do is process forfeit requests or make a ruling on a match (ie: player hasn't waited the 36hr join grace period... or invalid GUID during game, etc).

There are still 4 outstanding tickets that need to be resolved. Once that is done (this week) the trophies will be awarded.
After labor day (First Monday in September) we will have the meeting, and then after a short break we can start season 7.
I am hoping that we can get even more teams involved for season 7. Anybody here who knows of a team that might be interested, please contact them and invite them to come here and look around. If everybody stays, we have 15 teams right now. My goal is for at least 20 teams at the start of this season....

Season 7 Ladder Meeting

As such, I would like to get the the season 7 meeting taken care of sooner than later. I figure if we have it right away the weekend after the ladder ends, then we can all take a few weeks off and then start season 7 after the labor day weekend (us holiday) in September.
So, I am proposing that we hold the meeting on Saturday, August 23rd, at 3PM EST. Then we can open challenging up for season 7 on Monday September 8th.
How does this sound to everybody?...

Rule Update

-All players need to make sure that they have the correct GUID entered in their login information. Guid at the time of the game should match the GUID entered on your account permanently.
-In case the GUID entered doesn't match to your actual GUID in game, you are not allowed to play in the match.
-Captains are required to check the GUID's of their players and opponents before the match starts. Once the match is played, it cant be disputed on grounds of GUID.
